Based on 295 reviewsWithycombe Chip Shop consistently receives positive feedback for its friendly and attentive service, with staff noted for being helpful and welcoming. The establishment is praised for freshly cooked food served promptly, offering generous portion sizes that provide good value without compromising quality. Customers appreciate the crisp, well-prepared fish and chips, as well as the quality of additional items like sausages and curry sauce, though some find the curry sauce slightly on the sweeter side. The shop's operating hours offer an advantage over competitors, while easy parking enhances the overall convenience. While pricing is regarded as reasonable, especially compared to other local options, the limited opening times and closure on Sundays and Mondays are common points of note. Overall, Withycombe Chip Shop is regarded as a dependable and customer-friendly option delivering traditional fish and chips with consistent quality and generous servings.
Needed a local chippy as was on holiday! This was perfect. Really friendly staff . Guy was so helpful in asking what I wanted with my order. Food was cooked fresh and so quickly. Top service guys definitely be back, all our family loved your food !
Great value for the cost - got a takeaway with a truly massive piece of cod to go along with my chips. Tasty and crisp but not too greasy! Better open hours than other chip shops in the city, which was much appreciated.
Nice local chip shop and prices that aren't inflated due to its location like the other ls in the area in fact probably cheaper than my home chip shop, Chips and fish were very nice and so was the sausages and curry.
Good quality fish and chips. Very friendly staff and owner. Curry sauce was a bit on the sweet side. A word of warning they are open from 12 noon to 8pm and are not open on Sunday and Monday.
Great quality. And by far the biggest portion size around by an absolute mile! Also the best curry sauce around, and it’s not fish and chips without curry sauce. Easy to park too which is a bonus
If I could give this place 6 stars then I would. We had both fantastic food and service from this chip shop. The fish, chips, scampi, mushy peas and battered sausage were all cooked perfectly and it was all full of flavour. Dave is such a lovely guy and if we’re in the area again, then we shall definitely go back for more of his friendliness and food :)!
Lovely piece of fish superbly cooked in a crispy batter.. just ask them to put a bit more salt and vinegar on the chips
Worth seeking out this place if you want the traditional fish n chips with an option for something different. Option of small, medium or large fish n chips is a nice touch. Prices very reasonable and the foot long sausage and chips even made our teenage son look up from his screen! We took ours in the car to Exmouth beach and sat on the sea front.
